Better Health With Nicole
My heart and soul have always been in midwifery, serving women their entire lifetime, in all of their beautiful seasons. My greatest joy is witnessing the profound transformation of women into mothers.
We are all on a journey of self-discovery and wellness. I am only a few steps ahead of you on that journey. While birth is a catalyst for transformation, our life experiences, for good or bad, also serve as catalysts for personal discovery and growth.
I see a harmful division between soul and body in modern health practices. I want to help you transform your health. The transformations of birth, menopause, aging, and experiencing life’s joys and tragedies have led me to offer you assistance in compassionate healing with no judgement. Your true nature is not to suffer.
I used to see 20+ patients a day. I didn’t have enough time to discover all of the aspects that drove their health. I want to compassionately inquire and spend time in transparent conversations with you to assist you in making peace with all parts of yourself. There are no protocols in my practice. I also don’t have all of the answers, but we will work in community with other experts in their fields to help you form a healthier relationship with yourself – body, mind, and spirit.
A year ago, I lost my precious father from dementia. I also learned that I had similar genes for the same illness. Before this revelation, however, I knew that my body and mind were changing. It felt like my body was a mile behind me, and I lost joy in the activities that had always brought me happiness. One out of three people will experience cognitive decline as they age. I determined that genes would not be my destiny. In fact, we know that genes are not our destiny, the goal is not to trigger those genes with lifestyle.
I started working with a functional medicine practitioner, Dr. Brad Rachman, in North Carolina. Through him I learned that while my standard labs looked optimal, when filtered by a functional medicine work up, they weren’t. I stood outside Dr. Rachman’s clinic and cried, for myself and the many women I had served in my career. I plunged into a deep depression followed by a period of self-reflection. Did what I do even matter? Working with Dr. Rachman and learning from him changed my life. Now I have changed the trajectory of how I age, and I want to help my fellow women do the same.
I am a daughter, a wife, and a mother of two adventurous adults. I love to backpack, run, learn, and dance. My favorite activity is spending time with family and friends.
